If you’ve had a new boiler installed in the last few years, you may have heard of something called weather compensation. But what is it — and does it really save money?
Here’s a simple guide to help you decide whether it’s worth using in your home.
What Is Weather Compensation? Weather compensation is a smart control feature that adjusts your boiler’s flow temperature based on the outside temperature.
On milder days, your boiler runs at lower temperatures
On colder days, it increases the flow temp to keep your house warm
Instead of running your boiler flat-out all the time, it runs just hot enough — automatically.
Benefits of Weather Compensation:
Lower gas bills
Longer boiler lifespan
More stable indoor temperature
Many modern condensing boilers work best at lower temperatures, so weather compensation helps them run in their most efficient mode.
Do You Need Special Equipment? You’ll need an outside sensor and a compatible boiler. The setup is straightforward during installation.
